BigDataFr recommends: Smart metering systems use data to optimize decision-making
‘Smart metering systems are the focal point of a massive utility shift. The Edison Foundation’s Institute for Electric Innovation estimates that over 50 million smart meters have been deployed in homes across the U.S. These systems are now present in nearly half of American households, and 30 of the nation’s top 50 utilities have deployed the technology to consumers. Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) has deployed the most smart meters in the U.S. with nearly 10 million across its service territory. Though the utilities industry has been known to slowly adapt to change, technology data harvested from smart meters is creating new business models while offering ratepayers the opportunity to conserve energy and save money.’
